Introduction

This should make about 6 large burgers or 8 smaller ones, depending on who you are feeding.

NOTE:ย  A lot of restaurants these days are offering vegan burgers.ย  One of my favorites is Red Robin, which has a lot of locations across the U.S.

Total Time: around 30 minutes

Ingredients

Instructions

โ€ขย  Start heating your grill so it is ready when the time comes. I recommend low heat to increase the cook time and give the cheese a chance to melt.ย  If needed, spray non-stick spray on the grates prior to starting (the sprays tend to be flammable, so best not to do this when the burners are on).

โ€ขย  In a large bowl, add the beef, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.ย  Use your hands to mix everything together well.

โ€ข  Continue to use your hands to roll about a tennis-ball size ball of the meat.  Use your palms to flatten the ball into a patty.

โ€ขย  Place the patty on a plate or cutting board, and repeat until all of the meat has been formed into patties.

โ€ข  Place the patties on the grill.  Typically, you should leave the grill open when cooking things burgers, hotdogs, sausages, etc. (one of the differences between grilling and barbecuing).  But if you close the lid, it wonโ€™t hurt anything.

โ€ขย  Depending on your grill, with low heat the burgers should need 5 – 10 minutes per side.ย  When the first side is done, flip the burger and add the cheese slices.

โ€ข  When the second side is done, remove from the grill and plate however youโ€™d like with any condiments/toppings you choose, including the lettuce, onion, and tomato.

โ€ข  If you arenโ€™t happy that your cheese didnโ€™t melt, you can put the patty in the microwave for only like 10-15 seconds.  Any longer and youโ€™ll start to impact the meat.
